Ingest
Ingest, or data ingestion, is the process of extracting data from various sources and writing it into the data warehouse, data lake, data lakehouse, or other data store. Ingested data may be highly processed data from an operational database (i.e. structured data tables); results of some other process, such as logs from an application (perhaps a key-value store); or unprocessed data, such as sensor input from a device (often in JSON format).
